I have been working with mechanics for the last 3 weeks on my hydraulic system and we haven't found the supple or return lines. On my plane I have high and low pressure lines. The high pressure should run at about 1,100 psi and the low pressure should be at about 550 psi. Both lines need to be monitored if you want to know what is going on in the system. For example, a reversed spool valve is indicated by the low pressure side not dropping to zero immediately when the gear is put up. The high pressure is active when the gear is up. The low pressure is active when the gear is down. The high pressure and low pressure lines are both supply and return lines. When the gear is going up, the high pressure line is the supply line and the low pressure line is the return line. When the gear is going down the low pressure line is the supply line and the high pressure line is the return line. This is why it is hard to put filters in the lines. The hydraulic fluid goes back and forth, not in and out. Please notice that this post is for a LNC2 as can be seen in my signature below. Are other Lancair models made differently? If so, please state the aircraft type that you are talking about somewhere in your posts. -- Lorn H.
