The last time this
issue came up on the list I asked the tower chief at my home airport what his
expectations were. He said he would like to hear the actual make and model
of aircraft rather than "experimental" so he knows what to look for and what
sort of performance to expect. He said in his 20+ years as a controller he
has never heard of any pilot getting in trouble with the FAA for not
identifiying his/her aircraft as "experimental."
