The most enjoyable time I've had at a Flying event has been The Hayward
Air Race. Been to OSH, Sun-N-Fun, Arlington, Golden West, Redmond 6
times, and so many others etc.,etc. etc.. The Hayward Race is a
proficiency race from Hayward to Bakersfield to Laughlin, NV.  You estimate
your fuel and time enroute. The kicker is that you can only use the part
between your ears, no fuel totalizers, no GPS, no DME.  I won,t tell
you how I placed last year, but I will do much better this time. It
really is a great week-end.
