Just finishing up the annual condition inspection on my L320 and thought I
would share a couple of things with the group.
1.  Found that I had to replace the GM28, nose gear gas strut again after
only 11 months of service.  I was wondering what kind of service life time
other LNC2 owners are getting out of the struts from Lancair's latest
supplier (AVM).  The strut measured only about 105 to 110 pounds of force
when new and now measures about 85 pounds.
2.  After doing the gear dump test in the air a couple of times, the
infamous LNC2 dump valve developed a leak and the hydraulic pump began
burping at 10 second intervals.  The valve gave me 8 years of service.  Not
bad for a valve that was being operated beyond its rated pressure limit.
Replaced the valve with the latest improved version supplied by Lancair.
3.  If there are any LNC2 owners who are still fighting the battle of GM31
wear, here is a simple, easy and effective solution to the problem.  I did
it last year and inspection this year shows NO GM31 wear, No rotation of the
GM31 or inner race of the outboard bearing on the axle.  Just clean all the
grease off the axle and inside of the bearing inner race and apply a little
Loctite "Sleeve Locker" before you slide the bearing on the axle.  Works for
me.
