We used to see this a lot in Glasair III's when qcell or another soft
filler (bondo) was used for cosmetic filling of the leading edges of the
flying surfaces. We switched to cabosil or epoxy only for LE filling and
the problem went away. I'd also stay away from the softer paint fillers
(PPG K200) on the leading edges.

There are two LNC4's, with body work and paint done by the same guy, one
with static wicks? the other without. Both have leading edge pitting
after flying through rain.<<
