The big issue I've had with it is getting it to clear the defrost area on the canopy. To do this, the shield has to be brought aft so far that you start to lose mounting depth at the top of your radio stack, which was very valuable to me, and just not acceptable. My solution was to rework the center console, getting rid of the silly eyebrow looking thing for the throttle quadrant, by lowering/shaving the console about 1.00". I then extended the instrument panel 0.50" to gain some extra radio height, and to allow the stack to flow better straight into the center console. The overall result is a lowering of about 0.50", and seems to alleviate the problems of the glare shield not fitting quite right. It will now fit and clear the defrost area by about 0.25". There are probably some pics of this on my site; I think number 859 in the 08_2002 directory is of the instrument panel extended, and probably some more in the 09_2002 and 10_2002 directories of the console. I'd take some of the assembly together, but I've already sent the panel to Lancair. I might be able to get a pic of it from them. http://shannon.v8eaters.com/images/lancair/ --- Shannon Knoepflein <---> kycshann@kyol.net >>I've recently seen a couple of references to the Legacy glare shield. It appears it simply does not fit -- not even close. <<
