Sound - Insulation material

I was wondering what others have been using - thinking of using in the area under the floorboards for sound - heat insulation. aka in the Legacy the area under the rudder pedals above the exhaust ramp tunnels. I am assuming this would be the noisiest area and hottest since that's right where the exhaust pumps out.

Also, since this "material" would be installed prior to bonding the floor boards in ... does the material have to be fairly "sealed" aka so it does not absorb water or something else that leaks towards it.

Any ideas or comments would be a great help

Thanks in advance
