Don't know what happened to their website but if you want to try to make
contact here's the last info I had on them.

>From the research I did I learned a few things:

Aerogold works well
Applying it to the windshield is nearly impossible due to the steep compound
curves involved
Applying film is more art than skill
Use care to ensure that a given film is compatible with plastic aircraft
transparencies

Roig West, Van Nuys, CA - 818-908-9600 - did an installation on a Lancair
IV. I was told the windshield was done in 3 pieces and side windows in 2
pieces. Naturally THE trick is to have the seams appear seamless.

Gold Window Tinting

Dear Listers,

I followed the thread in the archeive regarding gold window tinting for the
Lancair
canopy/windows and spoke to Tony Durrizzi about it who had investigated this
a method
of heat and UV control.

I have commissioned the installation of this material which is pricey but
has worked
very well so far.

The product is called Aero Gold and is the same material used by NASA in
their spy
satilites and Apollo glare shields.   It uses real gold embedded in a film
which is
attached to the windows like car tint would be.

This cost is high ($150 per foot) for just the material and due to the
complex curves
of the windows the front of a IV-P must be done in three sections.  The
resulting seam
is not objectionable however as its less than a hairline.

Initial tests show a 25 to 30 degree lower cockpit temp as a result of the
film which
according to the factory eliminates 100% of the UV and 50% of heat
transmission.

In flite the need for sun visors is almost eliminated and very pleasent.
The film is
FAA approved and is great at night as well .

I am still tweaking the install and will report a final verdict and provide
pictures.
It is expensive to have the process done but the expertise is probably
worth it since
they are having to re-do my front window for alignment.   Total cost
installed is
$2400.00

Lower UV transmission, lower heat and rolling up to the ramp looking like
Neil
Armstrong make the effort worthwhile so far!
