Sorry to interject-- but I need to correct this misinformation.
"You need Operating Limitations, which MAY be in written form (handbook),
OR placards, OR instrument markings OR any
combination of the above."
For a,
Special Airworthiness Certificate, issued as Experimental, Amateur Built
(8130-7) it should read---
You MUST have Operating Limitations issued for that specific aircraft. (No
handbook-- that's for Primary Certificated Aircraft). This is a forever
document and MUST be co-located with the 8130-7 IN the aircraft AND
available to the pilot.
AND you must comply with FAR 91.205 in regards instruments and equipment
installed for night-instrument flight.
AND FAR 91.9 for Placards and markings.
AND FAR 45.23.
These items are not "OR"s .
The Orlando FSDO has recently required me to add a statement on the bottom
of the OL which says "I have read and understand---"
signed by the builder to prevent such misunderstanding.
