Rob,

>>who wants to spend $200k on a legacy and run it at best economy? (LOP
in go slow mode?) best power is the ONLY place to be! look how fast
the power drops off LOP<<

>>the only reason to run best economy is to reduce your fuel bill, fly
farther, or if you can't run best power because of excess heat.  now if
one has some kinda blower, you can get SOME of that power back...<<

Actually,  the single most unappreciated aspect of turbocharging is this:

You can run HIGHER **continuous** power while 75F  LEAN OF PEAK than you can
with the same engine and operating anywhere from 50 to 200F ROP...

Therefore,  I can, for example, operate the TN IO-550 at a continuous 270
(90% of rated) Hp at 75F LOP at 18 gph - - but, in order to operate that
same engine at 270HP and ROP, I have to be 300F ROP and the fuel burn is up
around 26 GPH to keep the same  380F CHTs.

So, which of those two choices are you going to make - - when you want to
"go fast" ?

Regards,  George
