It was great meeting many of you at OSH and putting a face to your names. I
had a very good time taking in all the complements especially form the
Lancair experts from the list. The judges smiled on us with the "Outstanding
Workmanship" award for the Kit Built category, which is an honor. I didn't
even mind cleaning all the drool marks off the airplane 20 times a day.
The flying to OSH was also a treat. From San Jose, CA. it took 6 hours of
flying to get there and the flight back was 7 hours. I went at FL 250 and
only had to deviate about 10 miles at one point for a build up but it was
smooth all the way. I stopped at Scottsbluff, NE for a short snack. Coming
back I stopped at Cheyenne, WO. and it was very bumpy climbing out until 18K
where it was smooth the rest of the way at FL 240. Al I can say is this is
one great traveling machine and I haven't talked to anyone that has a L4P
that doesn't just love to fly it. Don't waste a day working on yours because
you will have a permeant smile on your face when it's done.
I will be writing some emails to try to answer some of the questions many of
you asked to try and help where I can. I received so much help from the
Lancair family when I was building that I need to give some of that back.
Thank you all for all the compliments,
Jim Hergert
