"and never exceed 30 degrees"
As an Old, Bold, ex fighter pilot, I have to say that it really seems a shame to have a super flying machine like a Lancair and never exceed 30 degrees of bank.
One of the first manuevers in Acrobatics is a "lazy eight" where the bank angle reaches 45 degrees when the turn reaches 45 degrees; progressing to 90 degrees bank when the turn reaches 90 degrees. This is a very graceful manuever and should be done without pulling more than 2 "G's".
Even for those who are not into Acrobatics, a "lazy eight" is an excellant manuever to learn and practise because it is done through a broad range of airspeed, pitch, and bank angles, and requires coordinated flight throughout the manuever.
Restricting a Lancair to 30 degrees of bank seems like asking a racehorse to plow a field. Yes, you can do it, but what a waste of potential. : - (
My 2 cents. Regards, Bill Hogarty LIV-P @ 91 %
