Yep, that's the way we did our IVP in the builders' assist last January.
I now have a separate top and bottom.  The top of the fuselage has all
windows and the door bonded in.  The bottom of the door frame sits below
the "waistline" of the top, ready to bond into the bottom of the
fuselage when the top is bonded to the bottom.
