Needing to make some decisions soon about cabin heat in Ted's IV-P project and am wondering if there's a concensus out there about whether it's required or not?  I hear from some folks that the bleed air coming into the cockpit through the defroster area provides more than enough heat and that floor vents (and the associated plumbing) are unnecessary.  What about the floor area in the back seat?.? when you're at the flight levels in the winter up north, that's got to be like an ice chest thanks to stratification.  Comments?

I flew a C-340 for the last 2 years. It had 2, 335 HP Turbo engines. The temperatures a FL220 through FL260 are between 0 and -60 degrees Fahrenheit most of the time.

The turbo bleed air would keep me (not the passengers) warm until about -20 degrees Fahrenheit. I always found that hard to believe. When it got colder than that, you absolutely have to have more heat. The passengers were cold most of the time.

Don't forget the side windows, if you care. Below -30 degrees Fahrenheit the side windows and any other window without a defroster will be frosted all of the time.
