Carson City ( CXP ) is also a reasonable alternative.   Like trukee you'll need to rent a car.
Timewise its about the same total drive from CXP as from TRK.  Not nearly as close as RNO, its
about 20 minutes drive from CXP to there, and stead is about another 15 minutes north of that.

On the plus side, CXP is a relaxed place.  I landed there last year during the races, and the
only tiedown's I found didn't have ropes ( bring your own ), but there WERE tiedowns.

Oh and CXP has the cheapest fuel around.
