Regarding Ian Crowe's posting regarding using brushless computer fans in his
airplane:

I agree that they seem to generate no bothersome noises or interference with
any on-board equipment. I installed a small (two or three inch
square)computer fan (from Radio Shack) behind my panel for avionics cooling
long ago and have no complaints. I fashioned a plenum to collect the fan
output with outlets connected thru appropriate sized Scat tubes to the
cooling inlets on the units that had such provisions. Doesn't need much,
just enough to keep the air in the units moving and keep it from becoming
stagnant, and developing hot spots.

Should work right fine for defrosting and I think I'll do that - wish I'd
thought of it myself when I was installing the fan for the avionics.
