My nose gear won't go all of the way down and lock on emergency extension.

I have changed the gas strut, the hydraulic strut and the dump valve.

There seems to be to much friction in the system to allow the gear to come down all of the way. Sometimes it even stops half way.

We plan on disconnecting everything from the gear and seeing if the nose gear bearing itself is free. After that we will reconnect items one at a time. The mechanics think that they should put grease fittings in the nose gear bearing. The plane has about 650 hours of use.

Any help and or ideas will be appreciated. We are starting to work on the plane on Monday.

Thanks in Advance,

I am putting new nose gear bearings on tomorrow. The old ones were worn a little.

The only thing that looks like it might still cause problems is the fact that to move the hydraulic strut up or down takes about 30 lb. of force. This is with a brand new strut(or the old one) when filled with fluid and the fluid running from hole to hole with a 15 inch hose. That seems to me to be a lot of force. The system should be put back together by Wednesday afternoon(05/15/02).

If there are any comments, please feel free to call.

Thanks Again,
