Dick,
I think that you should take a look at the impressions that you have gained
from monitoring this list. I know a few people that have built kit planes
and all of them utilize the local EAA technical advisor program and the
other multitude of resources that the local EAA can provide. I've also
heard the discussions of regular commercial built aircraft and believe me,
they aren't immune to the update, rebuild, and try to improve blues that
most experimental builders enjoy.
Don't let a little fear of incomplete instructions sway your opinion. What
should sway your opinion is whether or not you really want to build your own
plane or not. Also understand that it is the nature of most builders to
want to customize their craft for a more personal configuration or for other
reasons. This same philosophy has been existent in every vehicle market
since day one. I am constantly customizing my Harley Davidson. I know
friends who are constantly changing and customizing their classic cars.
Homebuilders of airplanes are no different.
I've found that the manuals for the kits are fairly comprehensive and
although they are not a totally step-by-step list of instructions they are
pretty darn close. With some local EAA help and some calls to the tech
support, you should have no problem building.
This mail list is the icing on the cake, because it gives one the
opportunity to listen to other ideas and thoughts of those who are in the
process of building. Keep this in mind......an instruction that may be
perfectly clear to me may completely elude another's understanding.
Don't fret, man..........GO FOR YOUR DREAMS!!!!
