I am flying with an ACK ELT in my IV-P which was purchased from Lancair
before they knew better. It consistantly turned on when keying the COM
radio that is connected to the antenna in the tail. Very disconcerting! I
have corrected the problem by wrapping the entire unit in aluminum foil and
grounding the foil to the plane ground. The remote control unit on the
panel is hooked up and can be used to turn off any inadvertent firings.
Although, Iv'e had no problem since doing the sheilding, my advise is buy
the better
unit. Vern was only trying to help you.
