I had to puzzle for a while on that cabin heat valve as well. I finally
figured out that the heated air from the muff comes in the bottom, and is
directed either aft into the cabin , or forward into the cowling . I
attached a 12" length of scat duct on the forward exit to direct the
bypassed air down and out near the cowling exit.
