On the other hand, since my VOR works so well with them, I'd go ahead and put them on all your homemade units - sure can't hurt. Further, if I remember, I think Jim recommends that they be spaced by about thickness of a toroid (approx. 5/32 to 1/4 inch) starting close to the point where you break out the conductors.
