Are you using the glass tube (AGC) fuses, or the (relatively) newer blade
type?  I agree with your assessment of fuses vs cb's in general... seems to
me that Bob Nuckolls is of similar mind as well and advocates fuses over
cb's for most things too, for exactly the reasons you mentioned.
