It only took some flying from wet runways to sometimes get a permanent green light, regardless of gear position, due to internal leakage in the microswitches. I replaced them with IP67 watertight switches from Burgess, model V3SY1. These come with permanently attached wires that you can solder and shrink-wrap to get a weatherproof connection. For other less exposed connections you can protect the contact surfaces with electrical contact grease.
