    An addition to Bob Froelich's comments on SWR measurements:

Bob Nuckolls (AeroElectric.com) will rent you a nice MFJ antenna analyzer
(for $25, I believe) for the SWR measurements.  It's nice to have the graphs
to see how much power is being radiated/reflected back at the transmission
line/antenna junction.  It will also let you see in the future if something
has changed there (like a broken wire or bad contact within the antenna).  By
the way, Bob Archer's antennas came out looking awfully good in my
installation.  And Bob Nuckoll's book specific to aircraft electrical
installations and his consulting service (for about $45) is the best thing
that has come along for home builders who want to do and/or understand their
electrical systems.
