Dave,
I put Bill Maddox's wicks on the elevators and ailerons of my ES, which
are carbon. The wick billets are attached to the surfaces with silver epoxy
available from Lancair. I then attached a small grounding strap to each
surface and tied them into larger grounding straps that I bonded to the
sides of the fuselage beneath the rudder cable tubes. The straps will
ultimately attach to the engine.
I hear that static isn't much of a problem in the ES unless you get around
weather, but that's enough reason for me. According to Bill's formula,
which accounts for speed and frontal area, I believe the ES needs 6.7 wicks
, so I put 8 on, two on each aileron and elevator.
