I can't say I've heard of anyone supplying a backup timing pulse. I certainly don't have one, though it would be nice. My plan for backup ignition was "SmartPlugs" in the leading plugs. It's a great concept with many performance benefits and redundancy. Unfortunately I paid $200usd for a set of custom plugs 2years ago and have not received anything from them yet. One of these days I'll have an opportunity to fly into Idaho and will stop at their home base and try to collect something. I'd much rather have the SmartPlugs than the money, but I'll settle for either. I really do believe they would provide a great ignition system that would be primary, with the conventional system as backup.
