I am wondering if there is a minimum temp for the oil.  My usually varies between 140 and 160 depending on my power and attitude.  It will drop into the 130's in a long descent.  The engine is general is still warm based on coolant temps.  Does anyone feel that I need to keep the oil a little warmer for the sake of the engine?

Dave;

I recall David Atkins suggesting not to operate below 140F.  I would think this an issue only when under significant power, and not when in a descent.  But I suppose a full power go-around starting a 130F might not be the best thing.

I don’t have a thermostat in the oil circuit either, but will add one later if I have to.
