Mr. Anderson,
As a dedicated alternative engine fan (two V-8's in Steen SkyBolts and presently working on my 3rd) I have tried for several years to get the EAA to add "alternative engine user" to their computer search criteria at Oshkosh to no avail. I spend many hours walking flight lines each year looking for auto engine conversions only to return home and see several featured in Sport Aviation magazine that I never found. It is probably to late this year but maybe you could suggest it for next year. This years plan is, in a couple weeks, to post a request of all list members who are flying to Oshkosh to to list their "N" numbers as the EAA will search for these.

I am not too sure how to respond to your email. I serve on the Homebuilt
Aircraft Council for EAA and we are doing our best to bring the
interests of the real homebuilder back to front and center. It was my
idea to feature airplane that were built on a tight budget and have them
on the flight line in front of everyone to see. I also pushed hard to
add Homebuilt airplane camping and this year we added 80-100 new
camping sites for home builders with a brand new shower facility. Most
of us on the council are working hard to bring it back to the roots. We
have the ear of Bob Warner and Tom P when we meet at Oshkosh.
I am just a volunteer like the rest of the people on the Council and we
are committed to making it a place for us who love to build and fly our
own aircraft.

EAA needs to wake up and remember who and what the
organization was started for 50 years ago. I thank
what the letters E.A.A. mean has been largely forgotten.

OK, if any of you guys that are flying rotaries came in under $30K,
here's your chance to put your thumb in EAA's eye for their treatment of
Tracy & other alternative engine planes last year.
Wish I could see it, but I'm afraid I'll be spending my money elsewhere
until 'airventure' demonstrates that it is again interested in truly
supporting homebuilders.

The EAA Homebuilt Council wants to showcase at AirVenture recently built
experimentals that were built for $10,000, $20,000 and $30,000. If you
know of anyone who has built an airplane that fits one of these
categories who would like to be in the spotlight there and in a future
