I have exchanged e mails with John
Helms several times about this issue and basically I did not feel he was at all
interested in the effort it might take to find an insurer for rotary
engines. He basically said coverage could not be found (I suspect that he
was really saying, it took too much effort). That of course, could
change.
I have to
agree. As helpful as John was with my RV-8 (Lycoming), he was useless for
the RV-3 rotary. Keep in mind that I had current FULL coverage on my RV-8,
at the same time he was telling me it was impossible to even get liability on
the RV-3. Scott (Sky) Smith is the real hero for me. He
worked hard to get coverage for my plane, and I don't plan to let him
down.
