Many have 150 gal "tidy tanks" with a 12volt pump, to haul diesel, however in recent years combination fuel tank/tool boxes made from aluminium have become very popular. Several of the local fabricating shops make beautiful and very functional tanks/tool boxes. If this interests you I can see about getting a pic. Currently I'm just using my jeep and jerry cans (had to sell the truck to build the plane) which I fill at the cardlock, but soon I plan to buy another new truck and install a tank. There is a refinery across the road from the pulpmill where I work and I can buy direct from the bulk plant at a substantial discount if I buy more than 500 litres. I also buy marked gas for the plane, which is simply fuel with a purple dye to indicate that no road tax has been paid. I'm uncertain and curious as to whether you have a similar deal in the US? I haven't really researched tank material yet, so I'm not absolutely sure it will even be worth making one, as opposed to buying one already made. Most of the ones you buy are "approved" for transport, so that might be a good reason to get something off the shelf, though a fitting would have to be added to the bottom for easier gravity feed.
