Rob,

I have an electric constant speed prop so I have a wider operating range. Typical cruise between 4800 and 5200 rpm. Others with fixed pitch props may turn faster.

Very cool guys!

I noticed the tach was showing 5230 or 5240 RPM.  Is that about the highest folks are comfortable as a continuous power setting? If not, what Is?

Thanks!

Steve,

Actually I was joking. I was amazed how little vibration the airframe had so I shot a video of the water bottle. I will have a look at VibSensor. It will be interesting to see the results.

There is a free app called VibSensor that runs on both android and I-phone/pad platforms.  Although not a research quality system, running the app and holding the device firmly against a surface of interest will give objective results.  This may give a basis for useful comparisons for the terminally curious.

In my case, dynamically balancing the MT prop and the flex plate-damper combination as separate units made a noticeable difference in the system vibration signature.
