If mounted to wintips, I'd fold the aluminum like - \_/-
The leading and trailing dash should be at the top. That's the view looking down. The led's would point straight out to the side.
There'd be some conflict with the marker lights, though. Even though these LED's have a 160 degree spread. I have a 10W red and green one for my marker lights, with the 10W power supply.

How about a 3 sided pyramid to hold the LEDs? If mounted on wingtips, that should get horizontal output (90* to line of flight), as well as forward/aft/up/down.
