Thanks for Charlie & wife Tupper for a
most enjoyable event. It was great to see others carrying on
and further developing the ideas I started with.
The RV-4 had to be resurrected from long
term storage but it still flies great. Burned 23 gal. at
relatively low altitude on the way up (479 mi) against a
headwind that varied between 10 and 35 mph which mystifies me
since that is the least fuel it’s ever burned under those
conditions. The tail wind on the way home helped and I
estimate burned only 17 – 18 gal. Flight back was uneventful
but was forced to fly at 15,000 in order to see the weather
ahead since storms looked to be building on Sunday. Doesn’t
happen that way often but the tailwind was better lower than
up high. I didn’t have WX in the cockpit which I intend to
remedy before next long flight
Flew back with Finn but haven’t heard from
the others yet. Everybody back home OK?
