He = made it safely back to the airport.=20 I strongly suspect water contamination of his fuel tanks as his engine = was running fine when he shut down the day before. He normally keeps it = in a hangar and as I have personally found out =E2=80=93 old rubber fuel = cap seals can get hard and leak after some time. I found this out under = similar situation (heavy rain - not over the ocean). =20 I suggested Max check his fuel for water contamination as a starting = point.
