Steve,   how cutting can you get, an RV????    (Had to get that in for the thousands with an RV) I have a glastar sportsman. As usual much torment with the changes. Spent 4 months trying to find a miss at full power.  Long story short, was too rich at full noise.  5 seconds to fix and perfect ever since. Finally got Microtech to put a manual mixture knob in the ECU which now allows quick and minute changes at any time, same as Tracy's.  Interesting that Microtech used to offer the manual mixture trim, but never sold one so deleted it.  Must be simple to attach for it cost nothing for the addition. Others are now to follow suit to remove the wear on the underwear. Currently building another engine pack up with my own PSRU at 3.17 reduction.  Aim to ground test the PSRU on the ground for 50 hours before I put it in my plane.   Amazing what you do differently the second time around now that I know what Rad opening is required and size radiator is a big help.  Current set up works well but is very draggy, which is what I will change as much as possible second time around.  Am also narrowing in the area behind the prop to a more "shark point".  Looking at making an inconel exhaust manifold  to stand the heat better. Still getting up to 1850 degrees on takeoff.  Possibly is just the fact that I have EGT fitted which just makes me worry.  If I did not know the temp then I would not have to worry. My expert tells me I just have to keep advancing the spark until I get the coolest temp. How far before detonation??   I am currently on 32 degrees, but they go as far as 45 degrees in drag cars!  That is to fiddle with on the ground, hence my test bed setup.  IS very embarrassing when the noise stops in the air.  Will also fiddle with mufflers as well for in 50 hours I might as well be doing something other than burning fuel.  Best for new year.  Neil.

Thanks Neil, that makes sense.

We're about to paint.
So hopefully we’ll get a hangar soon at Serpentine and begin engine ground testing.
How’s the RV settling in after all he changes.

Steve

Steve,    Yep just use the old 2 stroke oil.  I suspect that with the leak and only "oil", the fuel is evaporating leaving the oil to take the blame. Have never seen the oil separate out yet after 12 months.  Flying yet?? Neil.

Hi guys
I couldn’t gain access to the archives so thought I would ask.
What oil are you mixing with the fuel?
I have been using some 2 stroke oil I had for our trimmer.

I found a small leak in the pickup of the aux fuel tank that appears to be mostly oil, not fuel!
Wondering if this oil is not mixing well with the fuel, or coming out of suspention when allowed to sit for a few weeks.

Your experiences very much appreciated.
