Too bad, Matt's list works well. For the first 10 years I ran a simple "majordomo" list for the KIS list, then had it transferred to Matt. He organized all the archives and made them searchable.

Absolutely not! I wish that the RV-list was still the go-to place for RV
guys, but it's not. Seems like RVers only go to Matt's lists for
aeroelectric info.
Unfortunately, most RVers have abandoned Matt for one of the forum-only
setups, and it really is covered with ads.

Charlie,
Were you making reference to the RV list on Matronix? Where the Aeroelectric list is maintained? I haven't noticed advertising or censoring on Aeroelectric, but he does solicit $ once a year.

In the past I have not kept the flyrotary emails. I read and delete because they are available on the archives.
Today while trying to search or just go the second page I got nowhere.
I know that the list hasn’t gotten much use lately - hopefully because everyone has flying projects and they are out flying and not because of loss of interest.
If I remember right the original owner of the list has moved on from Rotaries but keeps it going as a service.
Is there any interest in trying to take the list to a more modern setup? Hopefully with the ability to take the archive with it.

I've given this a bit of thought, too, but wasn't sure how to approach
it. I'm very grateful to have this list, and would hate to see it
migrate to a place like Yahoo groups. I'm a member of numerous groups on
Yahoo, and the interface is about as bad as I can imagine.
I would, however, like to see a more user-friendly search engine for the
archives. (Or maybe I just need a tutorial for dummies...) It would also
be nice to have a slightly bigger size limit for attachments; often the
small size limits usability of the images.
But I know that stuff like that can be expensive, therefore:
One thing I would strongly support would be some kind of fund raiser to
fund the maintenance of this list. Neither computer hardware nor
internet bandwidth is free, and Marv has shouldered the burden for what
has to be close to two decades and never asked one dime of us. In
contrast, the most heavily used forum for RV-x builder/fliers is
littered with advertising (list owner actually makes his living from
it), it's heavily censored, and his minions attempt to shame
participants into donating cash every year. If Marv will accept
financial support, I'll be the 1st to write a check, regardless of
whether the archives get 'upgraded'.
How about it; should we start a support fund?
