I've always liked the idea of having an "inspection party" before doing first flights. Its amazing at what another set of eyes will see. And I guess now I must say that I know of two a/c that had hoses blow off in flight. The incident I'm referring to was definitely a coolant hose. A hose coming off under 20 psi can evacuate your cooling system in mere seconds. Not a good thing to have happen while in the air. Hi Mark and Group:

Thanks for the head’s-up; actually I did have = not beaded the inter-connecting tubing but now that you mention it, our cha= pter has a beading tool and I WILL DO THAT.  Yes, the radiator connect= ions and the engine water pump connections are beaded.  So in between are 4 hose to tubing joints that were double-c= lamped.

It was my engine that had the hose blow off - but it= was an oil hose (Twist-Tite fitting) not a radiator hose.  There&rsqu= o;s a big difference between slowly increasing pressure up to 20 lbs with s= mooth flowing coolant and rapid pressure pulses in an oil line from an intermittent engine; having said that, adding those= beads is an extra margin of safety I need.  Thanks again to all &hell= ip;

Jeff,

This probably goes without saying= , but I have to ask anyway.  I'm assuming you put beads = on all of the radiator connections? Commercial radiators normally come= with beaded fittings.  I'm more curious about the sweep L's and othe= r pieces of tubing in your system. I am aware of at least one rotary a/c th= at made an emergency landing after having a hose blow off in flig= ht.  If not, Earl's Supply sells beading tools that do a pretty fair job for the price.
