As someone that is far away from the flying stage - and that has lurked on the lists for a few years it's great to hear that people are not giving up on their rotaries and sticking with the lists. I look forward to the day that I can fly in form with you guys.

I would say on average I get told I am crazy about 80% of the time people ask me what I am putting up front.

With the issues associated with the list is there any interest in trying to move this to a more modern system (forum, wiki, or update the system that runs the list)?

Hi Bill,

Been sitting in email limbo regarding the rotary list - surprised to find my
email access back in operation today.  Saw your query about my status back
some months ago and attempted to answer - but, no Joy.

Have not been active flying.  Got a cataract developing in my remaining eye
and figured I could not pass a class III, so decided not to try.  Not eager
to go under the knife to fix it as I lost sight in my right eye due to a
boutched operation.

I've basically been busy building a product (The EICommander
http://www.eicommander.com/) to monitor and control one of the popular new
electronic ignitions for the lycomings - they are called Pmags.  Been doing
it for about 4 years now.  Business really picked up once Aircraft Spruce
contacted us and wanted to put the product in their catalog. Sold 20 units
so for this year and expect another order before the year ends.

Just finishing up the (painful {:>))  transition from the older 8 bit
microprocessor chip I had been using for years to a 32 bit chip for
increased performance and a larger (2.4") display.  Boy, talk about a steep
learning curve for an old brain!

I sort of got a bit discouraged on the rotary front, when Mazda decided not
to produce the 16X - had my pennies already saved up to buy one and replace
my old 13B.  The 13B and my RV-6A are sitting in my hangar and I am going to
need to decide whether to part with it or get my eye fixed and back to
flying it.

But, I do follow all of your folks still active on the rotary front - So
while no longer as active as I once was, I am still just as interested in
what you guys are doing.

David Cook stopped by a few months back and that was a delight to have him
to chat with for a spell.

Welcome mat is always out for anyone coming through Charlotte, NC and have
the time and inclination to stop for a spell and shoot the bull.

Thanks for inquiring, Bill

Best Regards

Ed
