Neil's advice was right on.   When installed, there should be virtually no side play but there is nothing to restrain it when removed from the engine other than the pilot bearing on the prop shaft and that alone would allow it to wobble about quite a bit.  The clearance on that bearing is fairly large in order to flow enough cooling oil for the gears.

PS:  Congrats on getting 400 hours in your plane Christian, and to Bob on that great article in Experimenter.  I always get a kick out of hearing that rotary powered planes are out there and flying.
