First drill two 1/8" holes as shown. Chamfer the edges with a larger drill
bit. Then drill through those two holes with a smaller bit. The smaller bit will
have no problems with the angle, and you can do dozens of nuts with the same
bit. Smaller bit, high RPM low feed pressure.

enough. How do you get that tiny hole through the side of a 12 or 13mm
nut? With as many tiny drill bits as I've broken, it would be easier and
cheaper to just buy them if they are
available someplace.
