In mid 2009 I used about 50gal worth of regular gas
with 10% ethanol, before shutting down the airplane for installing the rotary
engine. When I started fueling the airplane this week for the first ground run
with the single rotor, every fuel system part I did not replace leaked. The
parts were drain valves in both tanks and the fuel shut off valve. Earlier, I
also found deteriorated fuel cap seals, resulting in new fuel caps. Now every
seal and hose in the fuel system is new. All that after flying for 9 years with
ethanol free gas without a leaking problem.
It turns out that it is the same pattern
I have been encountering on my yard equipment every spring. There
is always some non metal part in the carbs that need to be replaced.
I am fortunate to have found a gas station about
30Mi from here selling ethanol free regular. There seems to be a tendency that
gas stations are switching to premium gas ethanol free. If you want
ethanol free gas you have to pay more.
FWIW.
