The important factor about carbon is the type.  When injecting oi= l from the pan the carbon is hard / varnish like and very difficult to remo= ve.   When using premix 2 cycle the carbon is soft and easy to remove = and does not cause seals to stick in the grooves.   The carbon is most= ly residue from gasoline, not the oil.
