A guy told me a long time ago that that a big engine muscle car can get the same mileage as one of 50mpg traffic blockers if you drive it like one of the 50mpg traffic-blockers.  Problem is that most people are genetically pre-disposed to NOT driving in that manner.  The truth is that you can have all the Hp in the world wrapped up in an engine, but it doesn't burn any fuel until you start using it, and if you were using it, you'd be flying a lot faster.
