Hi Kelly,

The guy did not offer to to correct the issue (despite having paid the $100/hr), saying only that it wouldn't be a problem.  I said I was worried about the bolt head having a proper seat because 1/3 of the surface area is missing do to the lightening hole, he said I should just use a washer.  I'll send a picture to see what you guys think.

I did already have it re-balanced, that was only $35 but had to drive 45min each direction.  I am starting to think that the whole science of balancing is just a gimmick.  Despite the old balance hole being mostly drilled away, the new balance holes are on the opposite side of the flywheel. !??

I got the gear drive back from Tracy yesterday.  Now I am just waiting on some new silicone (instead of rubber) dampers that Paul Lamar is making up for me and are in the mail, then it is all ready to go back together.

In the mean time I have mostly finished installing the water/methanol injection system. (easily removable - that pump is heavy).

Next project is to get ADS-B weather and Traffic.

Dave,

I used to use an ace retired machinist in OKE City that did a lot of work for me at $20.00 hr
but he passed away a few years ago..............Guess I will do my own work even though I would
not make a pimple on a real machinist's axx...............If I am going to pay $100.00 an hour I will
just invest in a rotary table (to index the drive plate holes) for my CCM (cheap Chinese mill) and
take my 12"x 36" CCL (cheap Chinese lathe) out of the shipping crate (just needed an excuse)
and machine the clutch disc area level with the pressure plate mount area..............If I get brave
enough I might even mill some additional holes in the pressure plate area to lose more weight..

I did the relatively simple mill , drill and thread work on my mill to adapt the "Mistral" back-plate
to the front side hsg of my 13B and did not destroy anything...........<:)

Will your machine shop re-drill your flywheel to correct the screw up of drilling into a balance pit
without charging you extra and have you located a shop to re-balance ??...............I know you are
under a time constraint to get your bird back in the air and checked out for the Reno Air Races
but try to get some photos of the finished flywheel and installation for those of the group who may
be waiting to plagiarize all your hard work.............<:)

Best Regards,
