If you still have the gear as part of the front stack rather than a spacer,
just drop in a CAS and give it a try. I have no idea if polarity affects CAS
pickups, but my home built crank trigger using Chrysler pick ups were affected
by polarity. A positive going pulse had a nice flat front on it to trip the SCR
but when reversed, the long slow build of the positive side had timing going
nuts. Just switching the hookup wires got everything working fine.
