Latest from Steve's Skunk works...
The PSRU is an RD-1C, 2.85 to one. Prop is a 3 blade with a little Paul Lipps action designed in. 68" diameter I think. The one bad thing about Larry's Vari-Prop is that the high horse power one like I have is kinda heavy. I want to say 40 lbs but don't quote me on that. The airplane is a Lancair 360 so a heavy prop was good since the only place I could find to put the radiator was behind the baggage compartment... I am pretty nervous about putting this thing on a scale as I have no clue what its gonna weigh or where the CG is. I read the list every day but rarely post as I almost always find the answers to my questions. Once I get trying to start and tune this beast I'll be posting lots more. Hopefully this summer (but I've said that once or twice before).
Cheers,

Tom,
I hung a Vari-Prop on mine. Haven't flown yet or even started the motor but The Vari-Prop looks to be a great piece of gear. I paid 9K a couple of years ago. The prop uses a slip ring to vary the pitch. You don't need a hollow shaft. A very well engineered slick little set up. Works great on Tracy's PSRU.

If someone on this site has the Contact Magazine it has the e-mail address of the fellow in Texas. I talked with him last summer and he had over 80 hours on the PSRU and was happy with it. Contact Magazine can be reached at Editor@CONTACTMagazine.com and Patrick Panzera the editor will help you out for the article. JohnD
