You should only need to remove the pulleys and leave the front hub in place.  The pulley bolts are 6mm.

Do I really have to pull the crankshaft pully off in order to pull the water pump housing off?  If so that is something the Mazda engineers should have fixed long ago!  My 1/2 inch impact is too whoosey (spel?) to budge the pulley bolt, so guess I will see if I can borrow my neighbors...
