Bill,

As they say... close, but no cigar.  The wife had other plans (remodeling the kitchen).  So, I was lucky to even get out to the airport at all.  I was able to roll it out and run the engine on Sunday afternoon.  Now that all 3 EGTs are working (required making a new EGT harness for the EM-2) I could see that #3 EGT was 300-400* low.  A new primary fuel injector fixed that problem.  It runs pretty good, but still needs some tuning before flying (isn't that always the case).  Once warmed up, it did idle nicely down to1500 rpm.  Starts good too.

One by-stander stated that it sounds like a race car.  I guess that was a compliment.  ;-)

Al,

Could the difference be that Tracy runs mo-gas which most likely contains ethanol?

SO,  I can no longer recommend using the VDO pressure sensors for use on fuel systems.  Either an isolator must be used or a sensor rated for fuel exposure be installed.  I've been using one on my -4 for >7 years with no problems.   About 3 years ago VDO started putting a sticker in the pressure sensor package saying not to use them on fuel pressure applications.   I suspect they changed something in the manufacturing process.

I’ve had my VDO pressure sensor in service on the fuel system since first engine run in Jan, 2004.  Still doing fine.  Must be they changed something after that.
