Do you every remember seeing this? Soviet Bomber , K7, pr

Gregg, A friend sent me an e mail with those photos some weeks ago and here was my response:

There was a K7 aircraft(see actual photo below) but those supposed  “photographs” are digital fakes.

It’s amazing what you can do by manipulating (or creating) a photo with digital technology, but whoever did this went a bit overboard.  1st there was no colored photography in the Soviet Union at that time – that I am aware of.  2nd  the detail in the photograph is as sharp from one end as it is at the far end.  3rd The Guns are obviously a joke – I mean a heavy cruiser would not mount that much artillery {:>) 4th given the secrecy of that era I doubt seriously there would be children in the photo (I could be wrong about children – but some small folks are in the photo which resemble children)

Here is what the real K7 looked like – impressive enough for its time, but not this joke. Note there are only six (a few less that the 12 claimed on front and more on the back)  engines and NO artillery.

But, I was amazed at how many folks on the internet appear to accept it – only  a very few skeptics.  The Soviet did build some truly awsome (as in big)  aircraft before WWII, but most turned out to be misesrable performing and few if any ever went into production – later their predliction for large aircraft  did produce some notible successful jet transports and cargo carriers – so its always been in their designer genes (joke).
