I had a similar issue when I moved the battery from close to the engine to = further away for weight and balance reasons. Like you, I have a two battery system. An essential bus for all the engine related electronics and the main bus fo= r everything else. I moved the starter to the main bus which is isolated from the essential bu= s until the engine starts. Then the two buses are connected via a contactor= so there is no voltage loss. This solved the problem of the starter dragging down the electronics voltag= e.
